Melanie Gibson-Barton - "a really entertaining speaker"
I am currently available to give talks to your members via Zoom to enjoy in their own homes at a time to suit you. E-mail me or telephone to arrange a date - email@example.com or 07900 637171 (Talks by me are also available via Mirthy - see https://mirthy.co.uk/community-clubs/ ) - Oxfordshire WI were entertained with my 'Life and Times of Edith Cavell' talk via Zoom and responded: "Everyone so enjoyed your talk this afternoon – it was absolutely fascinating and we all learnt so much. It is lovely to be able to sit back and have information and facts delivered so eloquently - a real treat. We do hope that you will feel able to undertake another talk for us? Will be guided by you on the topic."
Info.: I am taking bookings now for LIVE (!) talks in 2021, 2022 and 2023 - when booking, please consider having an alternative date ready - to avoid your disappointment - and mine! I would love to give one of my talks for you and the diaries are filling fast.
"The best speaker we've had" is a regular comment I receive with delight.
I have delivered my talks to an enormous variety of groups of all sizes over the years.
My smallest audience to date? Seven - a group in Chislehurst I am regularly invited back to. My biggest audience to date? Six hundred. From auditoriums to a conservatory in a back garden, from Annual Council Meetings for WI Federations and AGMs, to afternoon tea parties, military societies, U3A, horticultural, friendship, church, Rotary, ARA, Probus, CSMA, Trefoil, Oddfellows and National Trust societies.
I simply love giving talks - and they have even been described as 'not a talk but a performce' - and meeting new audiences. I am now a full time speaker and give talks in the mornings, afternoons and evenings and I enjoy regular repeat bookings. I charge a competitive fully inclusive fee - I do not charge per mile - and I bring all my own equipment so you can sit back and relax.
Over the years I have increased the number of subjects that I offer to reflect my expanding interests - see my list of talks pages for details. I also regularly undertake commissions for talks, for example, Leigh WI celebrated their 100 year birthday and asked me to produce a talk about Suffragettes for them, resulting in my popular 'Suffragettes and Suffragists - Votes for Women' talk.
I have passed auditions to become a registered speaker with the East Kent, West Kent and East and West Sussex Federations of Women's Institutes - West Sussex gave me their Annual Council Meeting spot at the Assembly Halls in Worthing! I receive regular bookings via the Medway Speakers list, the Kent History Federation, Kent Horticultural Society and Dianne Mannering's national website Public Speakers Corner. You can be confident of a high quality presentation.
Sit back and relax while I provide your audience with a professional, informative and entertaining presentation, accompanied by colourful powerpoint slides. I bring all my own equipment - I'm entirely self-sufficient! - and just need a wall socket to plug into. My equipment includes a screen and a natty sound system - so your audience will hear me. I give my talks without reading from notes. Book with confidence (and, I hear, enjoy the congratulations of your group for booking me!) - and requests to book me again!
Let down by your speaker the day before your event? - just ask me, I can often step in at short notice for you.
I largely give talks in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex and London - for a competitive fully inclusive fee - I do not charge per mile - but talks further afield are always considered - just ask.
I look forward to receiving your enquiry and, of course, your booking!
