Melanie Gibson-Barton - "a really entertaining speaker"
Note: Currently taking bookings for 2020 - now just a few 2019 dates still available
"The best speaker we've had" is a regular comment I receive with delight.
From being an enjoyable part-time 'hobby' the repeat bookings for my talks grew to such an extent that I gave up my stressful job to become a full-time speaker. I give talks in the mornings, afternoons and evenings - regularly giving talks three times a day during the week. Over the years I have increased the number of subjects that I offer to reflect my expanding interests. I also regularly undertake commissions for talks, for example, Leigh WI celebrated their 100 year birthday and asked me to produce a talk about Suffragettes for them, resulting in my popular 'Suffragettes and Suffragists - Votes for Women' talk.
In October 2016 I was delighted to be the guest speaker at the Annual Council Meeting of the West Sussex Federation of Women’s Institutes, with an audience of 500. My smallest audience to-date is 7 - a lovely group of ladies who book me twice a year! I have passed auditions to become a registered speaker with the East Kent, West Kent and East Sussex Federations of Women's Institutes - West Sussex gave me the ACM spot! I receive regular bookings via the Medway Speakers list, the Kent History Federation, Kent Horticultural Society and Dianne Mannering's national website Public Speakers Corner. You can be confident of a high quality presentation.
I have delivered my talks to an enormous variety of groups of all sizes over the years including Womens' Institutes, history, family history, horticultural, church and social groups, such as the U3A, National Trust, Rotary, CSMA, Trefoil, ARA and Probus, regularly presenting at AGMs, and I enjoy regular repeat bookings.
Sit back and relax while I provide your audience with a professional, informative and entertaining presentation, accompanied by colourful powerpoint slides. I bring all my own equipment - I'm entirely self-sufficient! - and just need a wall socket to plug into. My equipment includes a screen and a natty sound system - so your audience will hear me. I give my talks without reading from notes. Book with confidence (and enjoy the congratulations of your group for booking me!) - and requests to book me again!
Let down by your speaker the day before your event? - just ask me, I can often step in at short notice for you.
I am delighted to accept bookings for talks in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex and London - for a competitive fully inclusive fee - I do not charge per mile. Talks further afield are always considered - just ask.
I look forward to receiving your enquiry and, of course, your booking!
